The Furnham Shape & Color Test is based on several distinct psychological and emotional performance indexes which are known to play key roles in cognition, situational awareness, and interpersonal relationship roles..
Each of the color "archetype" plates was carefully designed using a recursive pattern-matching transform (RPMT) algorithm developed by Taylor Menkoff at IBM. The archetypes were then tested against a series of double-blind control groups for a baseline assessment of thematic perception, cognitive dissonance, emotive response, and visual consistency.

The RPMT algorithm evaluates all possible combinations of defined responses by using n-set mathematics, a combination of mesh analysis and calculus that works particularly well when dealing with large data sets containing "boundary" permutations.
